Ajmer is in the northern Indian State of Rajasthan, just 130 kms southwest of Jaipur and 13 kms from the Hindu pilgrimage town of Pushkar. Pushkar is the more ‘popular’ tourist destination but Ajmer has tons of interesting museums, palaces and temples and is an interesting stop off.

Ajmer surrounds the lake of Ana Sagar, an artificial lake, and is ringed by the Aravalli Hills.
